Work has begun at Brilliant Dam, just outside of Castlegar, BC. A brief synopsis for this project is to remove deteriorated concrete and replace with new concrete on the spillway and spray wall.
A wooden engineered stair tower has been designed and constructed to allow access to the areas for rehabilitation. Engineered platforms will be tied in to the stair tower in eight foot lifts.
Special considerations must be taken over environmental issues as the nearby water is a habitat for sturgeon. In the fall we will be re-doing the concrete face on the forebay wall. Inserted pictures show the engineered stair tower in place.
