Project Description :
The 24 hectare (59 acre) Prince Rupert Container Terminal is the first dedicated intermodal (ship to rail) container terminal in North America, with the design capacity to move 500,000 TEUs (Twenty Foot Equivalent Units) per year.
Services performed include :
360m long Existing Wharf Extension, including (90), 36″ Steel Pipe Piles c/w 20ft Rock Sockets, 10,000cm CIP Concrete, 20,000 Epoxy in Dowels
9,000cm Excavation, Crushing and Backfilling, Gantry Crane Rails & Cable Trench System, Fenders, Bollards and Bull Rails.
It is uniquely designed to efficiently handle the largest concentration of intermodal rail business. The terminal was completed in September 2007.
Western Industrial Contractors performed a joint venture with Fraser River Pile to complete this two year project.
